As AK Dancewear enters its fourth year of supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we had the honor of partnering with a true inspiration, artist and breast cancer survivor, Michelle Zada Hall. This collaboration brought our dance community together in a powerful way, sharing Michelle’s journey to inspire and uplift the next generation of dancers.

An Inspirational Force: Michelle Zada Hall
Michelle Zada Hall’s story is one of strength and resilience. A breast cancer survivor and an accomplished dance educator with deep expertise in Horton Technique, Michelle’s vibrant spirit continues to shine through her work with the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Her battle with cancer has only deepened her commitment to dance, and her influence as a teacher has touched the hearts of many, especially during our Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) campaign.
This special event was not just a celebration of dance but also a meaningful reminder of the power of community and hope. Michelle shared her personal journey with young dancers, showing them that challenges can lead to new opportunities for growth and expression.
Making a Difference Through Dance
As part of the event, AK Dancewear proudly launched a limited-edition BCAM Tee, with all proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). Additionally, throughout October, a portion of sales from any of our pink or red-hued items is donated to support breast cancer research, education, awareness, and helping women. This initiative has allowed our dancewear family to come together in support of a cause that touches so many lives.
Seeing the smiles on dancers’ faces, knowing their purchases were making a difference, created an unforgettable experience for all involved.

Elevating Modern Dance Techniques and More
During the event, Michelle shared not only her personal story but also invaluable insights into modern dance techniques, focusing on the legacy of Horton Technique. She highlighted renowned institutions like Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Fordham University, encouraging dancers to pursue modern dance at the professional level.
However, this workshop was more than just technical training—it was a lesson in using dance as a force for good. Michelle emphasized that dance is not just an art form but a gift that can inspire positive change in the world.
A Lasting Legacy of Inspiration
At AK Dancewear, we cherish the opportunity to create memorable experiences that uplift our dance community. Our in-store events, like this collaboration with Michelle, offer a nurturing space for dancers to grow, learn, and connect with one another. We are committed to fostering a community where every dancer can be inspired and empowered to reach their full potential.
