LakeCities Ballet Theatre's Company Photoshoot Day at AK Dancewear

At AK we love to find groups in our community to support and share our vision with. Whether it’s from studios to pre-professional companies and professional companies. Any chance we get we always want to do the most for them.

This year, LakeCities Ballet Theatre, directed by Kelly Lannin, is proudly celebrating their 42nd season, and she wanted to do something special to mark the occasion. She envisioned a photoshoot that not only highlighted their artistry but also reflected the heart of their company. To bring that vision to life, they needed a beautiful leotard that complimented both their dancers and their brand, as well as a backdrop that gave every dancer the chance to shine, pose, and showcase who they truly are.

We invited them to come into our space and see what worked for them and that’s where the magic started to happen. Each dancer filled in with their pointe shoes and tutus all giddy and excited to see everything. What every dancer wants is to look good, feel good and be special. The dancers found one that met their needs.

LBT decided on our CORY in Motley with the glacier color. The light blue reflects the lakes surrounding their community. The white mesh cap sleeves are perfect for their tutus and tights and bring a nice uniformity to the whole look. It is sleek and timeless choice that perfectly reflects their professionalism and artistry. It can also be of great use as part of a costume for shows they perform in the future.

They also have a junior company LBT2 directed by Sara Solomon Rosenzweig who started dancing in LBT when she was in high school and joined their staff. The dancers of LBT2 went with CHRISSY in core with the color Blush. The younger dancers loved the playful pop of pink—because really, who doesn’t love pink? While fun and vibrant, the style still maintains a polished, professional feel that flatters every dancer. The color also makes the group instantly recognizable, ensuring they stand out beautifully both on stage and in class.

We had a great time together looking through all the different leotards in the store and trying out different poses together. We then went around our space looking for fun backgrounds to do our photoshoot. Nancy Loch works for LBT and is a great dance photographer and helped create the beautiful group shots. As both a former dancer and a talented professional photographer, Nancy brought a keen eye for capturing movement and artistry, helping us highlight the dancers in the most dynamic and beautiful way possible.

AK has loved working with LBT in the past and it was a joy to bring them in store for the first time to collaborate. It was a celebration of community, creativity, and dancewear that made every dancer feel confident and inspired. We love sharing our passions with fellow dancers and seeing how much they light up in our brand and style. Everyone took home a special memory of having fun and looking beautiful. It’s always a treat when you can have a place that makes everyone feel comfortable and gets to do what they love as a group.
